To Hendrik and Nicolas

I am dedicating this website and all the time-consuming research that went into it, to the two most important men in my life: my father Hendrik (*1923 +1993) and my son Nicolas (*2006); with special mention to the two most important women in my life: my mother Anna, and my wife Angela.

On the left is my father in his relaxed pose in the autumn of his life in 1987 at the age of 64 years, as always with his pipe and a cup of tea at hand. Below is my son in his relaxed pose in the spring of his life, at the age of 19 days in my arms. These are great moments.

Unfortunately, my father and my son will never get to meet each other, but they are inextricably linked through me. Dad, ek hoop jy is gelukkig waarookal jy is. Dankie vir al jou harde werk met my grootmaak. Jy was een van die beste. Seun, ek hoop jy word sterk en gesond groot en dra ons familiegeskiedenis en bloed vorentoe met trots en vreugde.
